Paper Cuts
What are we truly hungry for? That is the question at the heart of this powerful conclusion to a seven-week journey through the seven deadly sins. This session turns our attention to gluttony, and it challenges us to think far beyond food and diet. Gluttony, rightly understood, is the restless pursuit of earthly things to satisfy a hunger that only God can fill. We live in a world that constantly promises more, whether through the next purchase, the next scroll, the next experience, and yet we keep arriving at the same empty place. The statistics are sobering: widespread loneliness, financial strain, addiction to screens, and a culture running at full speed toward exhaustion. Paul's letter to the Philippians (3:17-21) cuts right to the heart of this condition. He warns us about those whose god is their appetite, people who have allowed their cravings to lead them away from the life they were made for. But he does not leave us there. He reminds us that we are citizens of heaven, a truth that reorients everything.
